The Friends of HTFL Garden Tour tomorrow, Saturday, June 16 from 11AM to 3PM.  The 8 gardens are exciting to visit-everyone showcasing a different technique of gardening and plantings.  See immediately below for further information or call the library at 610-446-3082.

Third Annual Garden Tour

Saturday, June 16 -- 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

LAST CHANCE FOR DISCOUNT TICKETS!  Available at HTFL for $15 until 4:30pm on Friday. Tickets will be available the day of the Garden Tour at the Grange for $20.

Explore some of the beautiful gardens in Haverford Township!  Tickets are now on sale at the Library's front desk.  Purchase your ticket until June 15th for $15, or the day of for $20.  On tour day, pick-up your ticket and map at the Grange Estate, Myrtle Avenue, Havertown, between 10:30 am and noon.

After you do your self-guided tour, return to the Grange at 3:30 pm for a reception and tour of their gardens.  You may also purchase plants as part of the Grange's annual plant sale.

Volunteers are still needed.  If you are interested in volunteering, please call Janae Alberts (610) 642-7831.



H.O.M.Express - Library Book Delivery

If you are physically unable to visit the Library, whether on a short or long-term basis, you are eligible to receive our free, personalized home delivery service!

Haverford Township residents who are homebound may apply to have library materials delivered to their home once a month. All ages - adults, teens, and children - qualify for home delivery.
H.O.M.Express customers can request particular titles and formats or Librarians can choose books based upon an individual’s favorite authors and genres.
Deliveries are made once a month by dedicated library volunteers.

College Plans, Wedding Plans, What's the Missing Piece?: Planning for the Inevitable

Shane Couturier of the Society for Financial Awareness (SOFA) will present and lead a discussion about a topic that we all avoid—how to plan a funeral.

Funeral planning—Morbid? No.  Practical? Yes!

Come get practical and useful advice for planning the inevitable.

This program is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Program will be held in the Library parking lot. In the event of rain, programs will be moved to the Community Room.

Dream Big - READ!  

Summer Reading Club 2012

June 18 - August 10

Summer is here, and it's time to kick back, relax, and have fun and that's what we're going to do in the Children's Room!

It's easy to be a part of the Dream Big, READ Summer Reading Club (SRC) for kids ages 2 through those entering 5th grade - sign up in the Children's Room, read at home, earn incentives and have fun at optional programs. Kids who participate in summer library programs keep their minds active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed. Visit haverfordlibrary.org/DreamBig for all the details.

Ready to Read: Dream Big, READ @ HTFL is a program designed to help children ages birth through 23 months and caregivers connect reading, fun, and the library. Simply stop by the Library (beginning June 18) to pick up your Activity Log, work on the log all summer, and come back to the Library anytime between August 6th and August 12th to receive a goody bag as your prize! Sciencetelling - Dragons and Dreams

Wednesday, June 27 @ 7:00 pm

With castles, kings, a dragon keeper, an Ice Sorceress, the Horn of Fire, two villagers, and a daring journey to save the entire kingdom, enjoy this spectacular adventure as we're swept away to a world where dragons are real, dreams come true, and only the most daring of people will survive to tell the tale!

Join us as we learn about the science of Fire & Ice by telling a tale of Dragons & Dreams using experiments of flash paper, exploding bottles, "cool" dry ice, and much more. Wouldn't dragon's breath be an amazing sight!?!

Summer Reading Club Show: Cat's Pajamas Music

Wednesday, July 11 @ 7:00 pm

The Cat’s Pajamas makes very cool music for kids, bringing a musical comedy twist to high-octane kid-rock. The Cats put on more than a concert—they invite the audience from the very first note to enter a wild, wonderful world of stories, dance, puppets and props, all backed by a band making great music that just happens to be for kids. Up and down the East Coast, The Cat’s Pajamas captures the imagination of children while thoroughly engaging their families.



Teen Summer Reading Program

Own the Night

Teens will OWN THE NIGHT as they party with us throughout the summer. Sign up for the summer reading prize program, read at home, and participate in optional programming at the Library. Teen Summer Reading is for those entering grades 6th through 12th in fall and runs June 18th through August 10th.

Join the Anime Club as they watch anime and learn about the culture of Japan through crafts and activities. The Graphic Novel Club will continue this summer - exercise your drawing skills with a focus on storytelling. Artistic ability not required, just enthusiasm! Rock some awesome tournaments at Gaming Days and have the opportunities to win GameStop monies.

Special Events will include parties for the release of The Amazing Spider Man and Dark Knight Rises, win tickets to opening night! Jam to the end of the world at our Zombie Apocalypse Party and earn money towards your HTFL fines at our Rock Your Fines a Way Rock Band/Guitar Hero tournament.
