A Room of Her Own
Join us, Sunday, March 24th at 2pm, as Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts staff member Dressler Smith discusses pioneering 19th century women artists like Cecilia Beaux and Violet Oakley.
She’ll trace the forces of political and cultural change in American history that have both inspired and challenged women artists. Featured heavily will be works by 20th century artists that were part of a recent gift to PAFA by Linda Lee Alter. Their diversity of perspectives can tell us a great deal about who we are and where we've come from, from the political statements of Faith Ringgold and Sue Coe, to the gorgeous abstractions of Edna Andrade and Elizabeth Osborne.
