League of Women Voters presents...

The League of Women Voters of Haverford Township presents a public meeting on the National Popular Vote (NPV) Compact proposal on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:30pm in the HTFL Community Room.

The NPV plan uses state legislation to ensure that a majority of Electoral College votes are awarded to the presidential candidate who won the national popular vote. This inter-states compact is controversial; issues include constitutionality, questions about congrassional approval, and voter disenfranchisement. Our guest speaker is Professor Donal Dowd, a Villanova Law School Emeritus Professor who teaches Constitutional Law. The program will cover an explanation of the compact, its status in Pennsylvania, the controversy around the proposal, and how you as a citizen can influence the NPV.
