Our Mission

Our mission is to serve the community, and our guiding philosophy in doing so is that the library of today and of the future is not just a place to find books, tapes, technology, and reference materials. It ought to be – and is increasingly becoming - a community center.

We pledge to use your gift, along with all other proceeds of our 2012 appeal toward fulfilling this mission and philosophy at HTFL.

Maintain Exceptional Customer Service and Quality Programs

We work exceptionally hard to maintain the quality of our customer service, and our programs that serve the homebound, parents and young children, students, teens, job seekers, professionals and senior citizens. All have been highly praised as some of the best, not just in Delaware County, but throughout the region.

Do we enhance and enrich our customers’ lives?

By way of example, Christine Cavalier-Purpura, mother of a preschooler and an elementary school student has this to say:

“The Haverford Township Free Library saves us several hundreds of dollars a year. Instead of running to the bookstore, we request to borrow books online …and pick (them) up right here at HTFL…It’s also fun to pop in for a visit to see what’s new on the shelves, hear the librarians’ recommendations, or come in for a family visit.”
