Congratulations to the Friends of the Haverford Township Free Library

Annually, the Delaware County Library System and member libraries support the Legislative Breakfast which honors an Outstanding Public Official, Outstanding Library Employee, and Outstanding Citizen for Libraries.  Today, the Friends of the Haverford Township Free Library were awarded the 2013 Phyllis S. Larson Award for Outstanding Citizen for Libraries, held at the Delaware County Law Library at the Courthouse in Media.  The award, named in honor of Ms. Larson, a volunteer who was instrumental in the beginning of the Delaware County Library  System, is given to a citizen or group that embodies the volunteer spirit for libraries.

The Friends of HTFL have been instrumental over the last 10 years in raising awareness and much needed funds for the Haverford Township Free Library, amounting to about $140,000.  The funds have been used for programming, equipment, library materials and special projects.  In fact, the Library has been trying to raise funds for a Mobile Learning Lab, consisting of 10 Apple MacAir Books, all of the software, a computer for the instructor and cart to house the equipment--the Friends saw the need for this equipment and funded $15,000 to make the Lab a reality.  In addition, they have also funded portions of a sound system for public address purposes and programming agendas.  Thank you to our Friends!

Help support the HTFL by becoming a member of the Friends-all revenue from their events comes back to the Library.  Click here to join their group.
