Mary Beth Lauer, The Outstanding Community Advocate Award

Mary Beth Lauer is the 2012 Outstanding Community Advocate Award honoree. 
Ms. Lauer has been a wonderful friend to HTFL for many years. She has played an integral role in bringing One Book, One Philadelphia to Haverford Township. Through her work with the Haverford Township School District, The Haverford Township School District Education Foundation, and the Rotary Club of Haverford Township she has helped bring together stakeholder to enable HTFL to bring several One Book authors for large-scale talks and book signings. With her help, renowned authors Tim O’Brien, Steve Lopez, and Edwidge Danticat have visited the Township.
Mary Beth is retired from the Haverford Township School
District where she acted as their Community Relations Director. She began Young Writers’ Day in the elementary and middle schools of Haverford Township. Additionally, she was the spark that ignited the formation of the Haverford Township District Education Foundation.
Mary Beth holds a BA from Immaculata University. She lives in Delaware County and has three grown sons, all educated in the District’s public schools.
