Welcome back to another session of Lego Club! We go back to celebrating some of the more unusual holidays out there with our challenges each week. This week, we honored the fact that September is National Home Furnishings Month by building any kind of furniture with the legos we felt like. Come see if any of the creations are inviting you to want to get off your feet:
That's a wrap on week 1! We'll be here every Wednesday at 4 through November 20 so come out and join us!
This past Wednesday marked the LAST Lego Club summer session of 2013! To celebrate all our creativity, the theme this week was to build anything you "dig" or, in other words, a free-building week! Check out how creative our members got when the sky's the limit:
That's a wrap on the summer session of Lego Club! Come check us out in the fall when we start an 11-week session on Wednesday, September 11 at 4 pm!
Enjoy the rest of your summers!
Can you believe we only have two weeks left of the summer session of Lego Club as well as the Summer Reading Club? Time sure flies when you're building Legos every week! We continued to use "Dig Into Reading" as our inspiration for our challenge and spies was our theme for the week as they will stop at nothing when "digging" for the truth! Check out all the spy gear, vehicles and hideouts created today:
Next week, I will be on vacation, but never fear, Lego Club will still go on with one of the lovely librarians from the children's room! I'll see everyone in two weeks for our LAST summer Lego Club session!
We continued to use our Summer Reading Club theme of Dig Into Reading as inspiration for our lego building this week. Construction was the challenge for lego clubbers and boy did they deliver with construction sites, vehicles, and even some of the structures that might be built on site! Check them out below:
Hope you all are staying cool as this heat wave comes to an end! Come keep cool with us next week!
"Summertime, and the livin' is easy......," lyrics from the song Summertime. George Gershwin, along with Ira Gershwin, composed the 1935 aria for the opera, Porgy and Bess.
Just those few words emit a sense of "kicking back" and relaxing with a cool drink underneath a shady tree in the backyard when it is too hot to do the everyday chores. I hope you are enjoying some time to relax and get away from it all. Don't forget to include a good book while relaxing.
Did you know that HTFL is now lending eReaders? If you have been wrangling with the idea of purchasing a Nook or Kindle, drop in and check out one of the many we have available preloaded with book selections. That way you can try before you buy.
Take time for yourself during this heat wave, come in to the Library and get cool, relax and let the good times roll! Oh dear, I think I hear another song coming on :-)
