When & Where is a history club for middle school students.  We will explore a different historical figure or event each month and dig deeper into the past.  We will examine historical documents, have trivia challenges, eat ocassional snacks and do science experiments!

Hip and Knee Pain Workshop

Got Hip or Knee Pain? This is the workshop for you!

Join Eugene Elia, M.D., Delaware County Memorial Hospital orthopedic surgeon, for this informative workshop. Learn about arthritis, how it can cause hip and knee pain, conservative treatments that can help to ease pain (such as physical therapy and medication), and when it's time to consider joint replacement surgery.  Dr. Elia will also talk about the joint replacement surgery process before, during and after the procedure.

Join us to learn about the history of our public schools.  Blu Taylor, School District Webmaster and Technician, will talk about the history of the Haverford School District starting with the first recorded land purchase in 1797, and continuing through recent capital improvement projects.  The presentation will include many photographs of the district over the years.

Reading Olympics

You're already reading the books; now come have some fun with them at HTFL!  Each month, we'll highlight two different books from the Elementary Reading Olympics list and participate in a variety of related activities and crafts. 

This month's titles are: 

1. Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth Speare
2. Mouse with the Question Mark Tail by Richard Peck

FREE and open to students in grades 2-5. Registration REQUIRED.

PAWS for Reading

Come to HTFL and practice reading to the best listener - a dog! Therapy dogs Rutland and Ziggy will come to the Library to meet with young readers and listen to children read a book of their choice.
 
This program is free and open to children in grades K and up.  Registration is required for each month you participate:
REGISTER for PAWS for Reading, April 12
REGISTER for PAWS for Reading, May 10
Within a week from the program date, you will be assigned a 10-minute time slot for your child to read with one of the therapy dogs. Please plan to arrive a few minutes before your time begins.
