This year’s adult reading theme Exercise Your Mind includes summer reading fun for "grown up" readers. The library especially encourages moms, dads and grandparents to join this special reading event as an example to younger readers. Our goal is to enroll 250 adults in Summer Reading!
The adult program is a flexible read-what-you-like event and has several prize drawings for added fun. Prizes include free books, book bags, and gift cards. Grand prizes include tickets to the Philadelphia Art Museum and Longwood Gardens.
Here's how it works:
- Fill out a registration form found at the summer reading station by the Reference Desk.
- Take a free book and a goodie bag just for registering.
- Read anything you want all summer long! There are no restrictions or requirements.
- Enter yourself for weekly prize drawings by filling out and returning book review forms found in your goodie bag or at the summer reading station. We'll notify you if you win!
Stay Tuned For:
There will be many opportunities to stay busy and have fun. Below are a list of some of the adult programs we are hosting this summer. See the Kids and Teens pages for a list of events for younger readers.

This month's movie is:
In The Heart of the Sea (2015)
In 1820, crewmen (Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy) aboard the New England vessel Essex face a harrowing battle for survival when a whale of mammoth size and strength attacks with force, crippling their ship and leaving them adrift in the ocean. Pushed to their limits and facing storms, starvation, panic and despair, the survivors must resort to the unthinkable to stay alive. Their incredible tale ultimately inspires author Herman Melville to write "Moby-Dick."
