March 2013

Get digital books and magazines!

Did you know that there are over 7,000 ebooks  and 200 magazines available for download through the Delaware County Library System?
HTFL will offer four chances to learn how to access digital magazines and download library ebooks to your ereader.
The first half of each program will cover setting up a Zinio account to read digital magazines. The second half will be a device-specific ebook tutorial.

Registration is required. Please click on the date to sign up through EventKeeper. Call Jessica or Joyce at 610-446-3082 x205 with any questions.

A Room of Her Own

Join us, Sunday, March 24th at 2pm, as Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts staff member Dressler Smith discusses pioneering 19th century women artists like Cecilia Beaux and Violet Oakley.

She’ll trace the forces of political and cultural change in American history that have both inspired and challenged women artists.  Featured heavily will be works by 20th century artists that were part of a recent gift to PAFA by Linda Lee Alter.  Their diversity of perspectives can tell us a great deal about who we are and where we've come from, from the political statements of Faith Ringgold and Sue Coe, to the gorgeous abstractions of Edna Andrade and Elizabeth Osborne.

Pick your recipe today!

Get into the kitchen with your school-aged kids and be a part of Cooking Together, the newest book club in the Children’s Room. Test a recipe from the selected kids’ cookbook by making it at home and bringing your dish to share.

It’s easy and fun to be a part of this cookbook club: stop at the Children’s Room Desk to sign up and peruse the cookbook, select your recipe, and get ready to cook!
