Prize-winning author JOHN UPDIKE dies at 76

Booklovers across the world mourned the death of contemporary American writer John Updike on Tuesday, January 27. The best selling author died following a battle with lung cancer.


Due to inclement, the library will open at noon today, January 28, 2009.

Yoga Basics

Would you like to try yoga? HTFL is offering just the class for you.

Lisie Abrams, certified hatha yoga instructor, will lead a class in gentle yoga poses that are supportive and nurturing to the body.

These poses are adaptable to any individual’s physical level*.

Classes will be held on Fridays from 11am-12noon through February 20, 2009. There is a fee of $5 per class and registration is required. Please reigster online or by calling 610-446-3082, ext. 206.

75 Years Celebrated

March 16, 2009, was the 75th day of HTFL's 75th year in operation. In celebration, our 75th customer of the day was given two complimentary tickets to this years' Open the Book Gala to be held in October.

HTFLkids Spring Program Registration Continues

This Spring, many HTFLkids programs will require registration to help us better serve our customers. Registration for the below listed programs will begin online on Monday, March 23rd, at 9:30am.

  • Books and Babies for children birth-23 months
  • Parent/Child Workshop for 1-3 year olds

  • Afterschool Knitting for K-5th Graders
  • Explorers Club for K-2nd Graders
  • Book Buddies for 3rd-5th Graders

Please remember there will be 2 weekly Open Storytimes, 1 monthly Pajama Storytime, and 1 monthly Movie Night that do not require registration.

Portable Play with Please Touch Museum

Join the Children's Room in welcoming Please Touch Museum's PORTABLE PLAY PROGRAM to HTFL.

Portable Play Programs provide young children and their families with a taste of Please Touch Museum and encourage them to have fun as lifelong learners. A Please Touch Museum representative will give participants the opportunity to experience interactive learning with a play kit based on one of the museum's main exhibits.

Join us on Friday the 13th for the show. Doors open at 7:30 and show starts at 8pm. $1 admission at the door.
